It's been happening for years

If the media are to be believed, Tony & his Barmy Army intend to change all that very shortly.
Now I know the media like to "sex up" any story they get their hands on, but if even half of what they claimed is true then we have just stepped back 25 years. The next thing you'll read about is riots if the police are given even half of the "heavy handed" powers they are supposed to be getting.

I'm aware it's been happening for years, I'm saying I'm not surprised by the fact it's rising. It's going to esculate as more and more drivers start to lose thier licences, or are on their last chance.



I beleive that's what there preparing for - Remember the Poll Tax Riots.

The poll tax riots were nothing in comparison to Brixton (I was there for both of them).
The first Brixton riot (April 81) put the old bill well & truly in their place & taught them that people will only take shit for so long, I really am surprised that they didn't see it coming though.
Believe it or not, it was commonly accepted back in the early eighties that if you were arrested & refused to admit there & then you were guilty, then a good hiding down the cells was coming your way regardless.

The second lot of riots (September 85) was again caused directly by the old bill thinking that they owned the place, although they were sort of semi-prepared on this occasion in that they barricaded themselves in their now fortified police station and sat there shitting themselves until outside help turned up in the form of the British Army.

Tony only has himself to blame for the "lawless" Britain that we see today.
Instead of turning the old bill in to "Judge, Jury, & Executioner" (which is effectively what it was like in the eighties), what he really needs to do is make their life easier in getting the criminal in to court to start with (simplify the bullshit paperwork that he has created for them), and then changing the law so that any sentence passed actually reflects the crime comitted.

I might just do that. lets call it an insurance policy.

The trust, which said there were 14,176 plate thefts last year, advised car owners to report thefts to the police.


Who will do what ???

Who will give you a crime number which can be used in mitigation of any camera flashes of the car on which the plate is put.

And i suppose the pratnership will believe that ?
Sorry, from what we've all read all they believe in is that they are right and you are wrong till you prove otherwise.
Thats why when i was flashed driving into a gatso i threatened to go to the press.The thought of losing one £60 was compensated for (to them) by the thought of the potential loss of a lot more.

No but hopefully a magistrate will. That is if the CPS doesn't drop your case because they fear it setting a legal precident and opening the floodgates to people refusing their FPN.

Yes, thats the idea in theory , but a crime no will have to be sought as often the police don't give them out.

Just read the article again - still slightly cynical about the police - one bit at the end of the article did make some sense - chipped plates - this time activated like trackers would stop this - slightly dearer but balance it against the hassle of disproving a speeding ticket or a congestion charge.

I was out of the country when my wifes car was spotted speeding out of Kendal.
The day we left on holiday, she got a puncture, so we left the car at work, and the dodgy wheel with the garage.
Car was seen at 7.02 am, heading out of Kendal towards Windermere, where I live, and where my brother-in-law was housesitting. He worked in Bowness, so it was unlikely he left his own car, took ours and headed off away from where he was staying and worked, but I was asked to question him, and "anyone else who might have had access to the keys".
In the end, I asked them to show me the picture - which of course they didn't, and so I asked for a scenes of crime officer to inspect my car, to see if it had been broken into. After a month, they gave up, and I got a begrudging letter saying no action would be taken against me!!

I am SO glad I was on holiday, or I might well have been in trouble!!

precious few, last time I reported a break-in to my van the police responce was to send me a sticker with "there are no valuables in this vehicle"

surely that can only be deliberate obnoxiousness on their part? hey, if my plates get stolen can i just put a sticker on the back with "there are no number plates on this vehicle"?
