Bolton paper (p7) reports that Greater Manchester Transport plans to offer free transport to pensioners following a £350m cash injsection from the Government. After 9.30 am Monday-Friday Manchester's senior citizens will enjoy free transport whilst local councillors panic over the imapct on council tax

OAPs and disabled will be using the same buses they have always used - but will be using without having to pay their currently reduced fees. Don't see this logic and if they want to get us on buses - then I do not mind paying a bit more on tax if I get to benefit from subsidised transport as I would if we lived in Wildy's home land. 
The GMPTE spokesman said some of the cash had been used to commission research to corroborate the cost of the scheme
and reckosn the £350m will meet the cost of implementing the scheme....

) tried out a bus here to check last winter and struggled to board with youngest's buggy and one equally disgruntled 5 year old, got soaked whilst waiting for the bus but agrees the bus driver was friendly and patient enough as she grappled with a grizzly kitten and a buggy.
