Just been caught in Southampton, after 16 years of speeding ticket-free driving (42 in a 30 on Northam Bridge, by a mobile van).

Is the PACE Witness Statement method still a reasonably successful defence? If so, I'm minded to try it.

What are the odds of success?

What is the worst case scenario?

On another note, doesn't the front cover of my NIP need to have been signed by somebody in authority?

You could try 1 pence pieces, as reported in the news last week ref. a parking offence!

However I believe they might be able to refuse this!

Wasn't there a post on this(long time ago) - some forces were sending out NIPs with photocopies of the CC sig and NIP became null & void .

If you do what one fisherman did to Cornwall County Council a few years ago, most definitely a cheque. It seems that you can create a cheque from just about anything provided it contains the requisite information and is signed. So he paid what he considered an unjust bill with a cheque written on a shark he'd caught a few days before. With the media in attendance he presented the payment one Friday during the hour between the bank and the council offices closing - so they'd have to keep the rotting shark all weekend before being able to bank it!

My PACE letter was taken as evidence without any questions and now ive been given a summons. Not sure what to do now. PACE certainly hasnt "killed" my ticket, not yet aleast.
