I was driving upto a speed camera near my house the other day. I was miles away and forgot all about it because it was under maintence and the workmens van was parked behind it. It was also lowered abit i presume this is so it can be worked on without a step ladder. Anyway i am pretty sure i was doing no more than 33mph and while i was on the white markings i braked to 25mph. The camera flashed now im like 90 percent certain i wasnt speeding but if i was could i argue that the camera isnt calibrated correctly at that height and that its hardly fair if its being worked on. I did turn back to have a word with the bloke who was working on it but he had left.

I went past a truvelo a few years ago now, that was being worked on, this too flashed as I passed. Maybe it's part of the maintenance procedure?

My views do not represent Safespeed but those of a driver who has driven for 39 yrs, in all conditions, at all times of the day & night on every type of road and covered well over a million miles, so knows a bit about what makes for safety on the road,what is really dangerous and needs to be observed when driving and quite frankly, the speedo is way down on my list of things to observe to negotiate Britain's roads safely, but I don't expect some fool who sits behind a desk all day to appreciate that.
