-Paul - we've got cyclists /truckers / others forums - how about a " non coloured van man forum(gettin a bit pc here) - "--call it van forum - we fall between truckers and drivers, we drive a lot of miles ---so how about it ??

And if you need a mod for it - i'm game -

Can we also have a pedestrian forum, but we don't want dog walkers in there so can they have their own forum.

I think perhaps a generic forum for professional drivers of small vehicles would make more sense.

That covers transits, reps, engineers etc. it would also be amusing so see the vhite vans auruing with the reps

Or we could just have a bunch of forums for all road users?

I don't like the idea of separate forums for different classes of road user in the same way as I don't like the idea of cycle lanes.

Unlike the "cylcists must use the cycle lane" sceanrio, here we have an area that makes it easy for searching purposes to find specific discussions. Iy might also encourage discussions that may otherwise not come to the fore.

It's Paul's call, but there are three "minority" groups not covered from the above list - the generic small PSV driver (including taxi, white van man etc), the equestrian and the pedestrian. I doubt we'd get many posts in the latter two, but I'd personally like to see the placeholders (although for reasons Homer makes clear I'm by no means 100% for it.

I agree, I can see the purpose of "cyclists" and "motorcyclists", as they have very specific issues, but where does it end?

Can we have one for "drivers of bog-standard, non-performance cars"?

Given the small number of posts in some areas I suggest the following tidy up:

- Merge Speed, Safety.. with Improving Road Safety and Campaigning.
- Merge General Chat and Soapbox
- Consider deleting the M4 Protest, Technical and Highlands sections
- Merge Opinions with What's New, Admin ...
- Merge Claims, Challenges, Honesty.

The case for "White van man"

"WVM" and Taxi drivers have a unique perspective of the situation.

Most private drivers only travel along a handfull of regular routes (Too and from work, too and from the shops, ets ets)

HGV drivers tend to use "Major" roads.

But Taxis and WVM drive extensivly along minor and urban roads and have a knowledge of these roads that even the Police will lack (The presence of a police car changes peoples behaviour so Police rarely get to see the true situation)

I should think that I (As a WVM) have probabally, at some time, driven along every road within 15 miles of my home base at some time (Well probabally in excess of 90% of them anyway)

What is more (As highlighted elsewhere on this board) We WVM, despite our fearsome reputation, actually have a pretty good safety record!

We are the people who know how roads work and we should really be the people who are consulted about how to improve matters!
