mpaton2004, this bulletin board is not "new", it's an upgraded version of the previous software. I have a feeling that you're the sort of person who automatically hates every new Windows release as well. Unfortunately, as with life, change is inevitable, and you might as well accept it, although that doesn't necessarily apply to all changes, including your beloved "safety" cameras (or should that be your beloved's beloved "safety" cameras?)

Anyway no-one could reasonably use words like "horrible" when they've had less than 24 hours to get used to the new system. Few new interfaces are completely natural straight away. Give it a chance, as you would have done if the forum hadn't been owned by an organisation which you are always (these days) so desperate to criticise.

Why fix something that wasn't broken in the first place? :?

The old system was clearer and didn't have fancy styles and pointless "bells and whistles" just for the sake of it. Oh wait, that sounds just like Windows Vista.

I'm not keen - but I am prepared to give it a while to see if it grows on me!

Can we change the colour or the font - it's way too light for my liking!

It's certainly different but considering it's phpBB that can only be a good thing. :D

The colour scheme is possibly too harsh for some users, and I really think the usernames should be back on the left.

I also think that topic preview should be enabled.

In the user control panel there is a pull down menu so you can view the board in your prefered style. sadly there is only one option "prosilver".
Personally I find this board very hard to read
Is there a chance to add another board style,, preferably in arial font and about 2 fonts bigger?
It is my dyslexia and the charictures are very tightly squeezed.
I note that I am not seeing the google ads? Is that a loss of revenue?

The board style is important. Lets not degrade the board just because it upsets an advesrary!

Also is the font and style too laid back. Could it be harder and more NEWS-ey

Is is possible just to reload some of the old css style sheets or somthing?

Thanks to Graham for all his hard work

Yes, I agree. Can this be done?

you should be pleased the site has been upgraded..... in some web circles phpbb means 'please hack me'!
so its good to have the latest version with the multiple vulnerabilities patched (for now).

those that really care could go find the phpbb themes site and propose the one they want!

It is little too pastel for my taste.
The search results look a bit cluttered, having the group/forum in its own column was more useful.
I am already getting used to the poster profile being on the right.

Quick search found these, is it possible to add any of these styles to the site if a member requests it?

You will not get any hassle from me though Graeme, I am on the receiving end too often to do that.

Like anything new, I think it needs to be given some time to get used to it. I've a large screen at home so maybe it dosn't look so bad. I wouldn't let it put me off using the site :)

I'm not keen either - I much prefer the user ID to be on the left, and yes i would prefer there to be more options as far a colour etc.

But, in general, nice work Greham, there are always going to be 'teething problems' with any new system!

That colour would have shown up much better on the style that ed_m mentioned above...I reckon Toltec's started using it on this board.

(Check out the "stars" animation when you mouseover the forums!)
